ROTARY TO HOST ART SHOW AGAIN. The Rotary Club of The Entrance is again hosting the ‘Kevin Hill’s “TOP TEN” Australian Artists art show at the Oaks Waterfront Resort on Friday 19th Sep at 7.00pm. The Member for Dobell & Chairman of the Economics standing committee Craig Thompson will open the show and also launch my new book titled ‘Kevin Hill’s “TOP TEN” Australian Artists ~ Special Limited Edition’ at a pre Christmas nibbles & Drinks. The new book, our fourth edition, is bigger with more paintings than ever before. Cheryl & I are really excited about the quality and no stone has been left unturned to bring you the very best that Australia has to offer. 88 pages including almost 70 colour plates of wonderful paintings, sketches and stories.

OTTO KUSTER, a household name in the art world is celebrating 50 years as an artist.
a wonderful milestone! His style of pasting paint onto canvas with a palette knife & the talent that leaps from every one of his paintings is admired by the art buying public & his peers alike. His works for this show all showcase this mans extraordinary talents.

Only 1000 Individually Numbered Copies. The books are Individually Numbered and feature my choice of the “TOP TEN” Artists in their field in Australia today. We have incorporated a ‘special guest artists’ section & a ‘Legends in Art’ section which includes the ‘Brushmen of the Bush”. The Black grained hard cover and Gold leaf embossed title makes it a very attractive book and some of the paintings will be for sale at the show.

INVESTING IN ART: With the share market uncertainty, DIY superfund managers are increasingly looking to include art in their investments as a good means of reducing risk and adding diversification to their investment portfolio. Talk to your advisor

JACK ABSALOM OAM IN SHOW: We are excited to say that Jack, for the first time in many years, has released a number of his SIGNIFICANT PAINTINGS FOR THIS SHOW Cheryl & I are proud that our show was chosen by Jack for this release. John Pickup’s work will also be exhibited for sale. Broken Hill City Council declared 2006 the year of ‘The Brushmen of the Bush’. A retrospective exhibition opened that year in the Broken Hill regional Gallery and is travelling extensively through the Australian Regional Gallery circuit. This is a great boost to the Brushman’s fame and will surely further enhance the value of owning their works.

JOHN BRADLEY is returning to The Entrance with some of the best work I have seen. I’ve known John for many years and have never been more impressed with his work for this show. His work is superb from the Puffing Billy trains steaming through mountain forests, the Blue Mountains in all their moods to the campfire scenes.

GARY MYERS: Gary has just completed a year long inspiring painting trip around Australia from Hobart to Perth, Darwin to Sydney. The colours, moods and shapes of our vast country come alive on his canvases. I am really excited about his new work and I believe he has the potential to be a very important investment artist.

JIM HOUGH In a first for our clients Jim will be bringing paintings from his new series ‘Threatened & endangered species’. The paintings depicting birds and animals such as the Helmeted Honeyeater, the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby and Koala in their natural habitat are incredibly detailed and vibrant; they jump out of the canvas. Also his trip to outback Broken Hill has produced great works. As I said before, get in while you can.

MAX MANNIX. The demand on his work throughout the country is so great that even painting 7 days a week cannot satisfy the demand let alone time for Golf. Max is an icon in Australia with his paintings sought by collectors and investors alike. His works are lively, & topical. He has the reputation as one of Australia’s great investment artists.

DAVID BRAYSHAW. David is really going places like Hong Kong & Dubai where his exhibitions are very successful and his paintings are keenly sought. His new paintings for the show are breathtaking and sure to find homes very quickly.

IAN HANSEN’S success in the USA continues with an almost sell-out show in Maine. The Americans can’t get enough of his work. It’s so good we should keep it in Australia.

JOHN VANDER: John and Frances journeyed through France, England & Ireland last year where he rediscovered his love of Europe’s great artists. They stayed in Provence and travelled the haunts of the great masters like Van Gogh and Cezanne. These wonderful experiences inspired and reinvigorated him and he has produced a limited collection called

WERNER FILIPICH. is producing some of the best work I have ever seen and his paintings have been ‘walking off the wall’ at all of our sales. He has extraordinary talent. The work he is taking to The Entrance is some of the finest I have ever seen.

JOHN DYNON This colourful ‘larger than life ‘character is taking Australian art to a new dimension. After Pro Hart’s death, critics predicted that “Dynon could be the new inspiration for outback art in Broken Hill”. Check out his work! The prediction! Spot on.

FINALLY Cheryl, the artists & I are proud to support the Rotary Club of The Entrance and aid their fund raising efforts with part of rotary’s proceeds goes to the injured pelican fund We look forward to seeing you at the Oaks Waterfront.

5 May 06 - SMOKY DAWSON TO PAY TRIBUTE TO PROHART

A picture of PRO HART

PRO HART’S DEATH was the loss of one of our “TOP TEN” members and a great friend. His passing has left a gaping hole in Australian art. Cheryl and I were grateful we visited him and Raylee just before his death. Pro Hart was a giant of a man who never lost touch with the ordinary Aussie. His philosophy of pricing his paintings for the average wage gave many people the opportunity to own one. Sadly with his passing this will change forever. We have been bringing Pro and his art to our clients for almost 30 years and I have extended our condolences to his family on behalf of you all.

TRIBUTE TO PRO: We have invited another lifelong friend of Pro’s, SMOKY DAWSON, to pay tribute to him at this May show where we will have a full showing of Pro’s paintings for sale. I ask all of our friends and clients to attend this tribute as a mark of respect for this great Australian.

‘Pro’s life on earth has been extraordinary and he will be remembered for as long as art thrills the hearts, minds and souls of people everywhere.’

BRUSHMEN OF THE BUSH: Broken Hill City council has declared 2006 the year of ‘The Brushmen of the Bush’ and with Pro Harts’ passing there are only two of this world famous group still painting. That is Jack Absalom and John Pickup and we are excited to say Jack & John’s work will be exhibited for sale with Pro’s at this tribute show. John’s works are keenly sought by discerning investors and can only be described as incredible and exciting. A retrospective exhibition is opening in June this year in the Broken Hill Regional Gallery and will travel extensively through the Australian Regional Gallery circuit after Broken Hill. This is a great boost to the Brushman’s fame and will surely see a further rise in the price of their works. I believe they are the most significant group to capture the Australian art market since the Heidelberg School of Streeton, McCubbin etc. Great potential investment!

ART – THE SAFE BET? Well, this week has certainly proven every thing I have been telling you for the past 26 years and many of you will now be grateful for taking the advice. A Pro Hart sold for $49,000 last Monday at auction. You could have purchased a painting of a similar size from me ten years ago for around $6000 and I don’t think his prices will stop there. Pro was one of my first “TOP TEN” artists. Now is the time to get in early and consider paintings by the remaining “TOP TEN” artists!

HOW I CHOOSE THE TOP TEN: I categorise artist’s works into 10 styles and then, using a wide criteria, choose an artist from each style who I believe is the best artist in that style in Australia today. ‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating’.

NEW ARTISTS FOR SHOW: For those of you who missed the November show, missed our major new find, the incredibly talented wildlife artist James Hough will be with us again. His depiction of Australia’s fauna is incredible I don’t think I have ever seen such delicate and fine work set in incredible landscapes. You’re sure to enjoy these! They have great investment potential.

AN OLD FRIEND IS BACK: Eric McCormick will be at the show with 10 of his incredible works. Eric has been a guest artist many times in the early days and many of you have requested his return. His latest work is fantastic and you will enjoy his chunky oils and vibrant outback colours.

MAX MANNIX IS OVER THE MOON: with the arrival of his first grandson. Max says, after 8 girls they have finally ‘got it right’ Max is well known for the enjoyment he gets from his grandchildren and he loves to boast about them all. He is looking forward to being at the Bankstown show where he gets the opportunity to see his Sydney family.

DYNON RELEASES NEW SERIES: Whilst we were in Broken Hill we visited John and Debbie. They have just completed an upgrade of their home and studio. I tell you the paintings he is bringing to the May show are incredible. He stayed home for the first Christmas in years and painted. We are the winners! Great work with excellent investment potential.

JOHN VANDER has released one of his most famous paintings for sale. Titled ‘Mittagong’ it was reproduced in print and has literally sold 1000’s of prints and a framed print comes with this very collectable investment.

FINALLY: Cheryl and I hope you can join us. We look forward to seeing you all again. Kevin.

ART – THE SAFE BET Clients always ask me, How do I choose a piece for investment yet one that I can afford? My advice is select established up and coming artists then follow your heart and only buy it if you like it. Remember, you are Investing in your lifestyle as well. The work is going to enhance your home or office and give you and your family increasing pleasure for many years. History has shown that unlike expensive curtains, blinds and floor coverings, a work of art has the potential to substantially increase in value as you enjoy. Advice before you purchase is very important, an absolute must.

We carry out free appraisals for our clients and almost all are astounded at the increase in value their paintings have achieved over the years. Many of them purchased their pieces purely for enjoyment and cannot believe the gains they have made.

BRUSHMAN OF THE BUSH: This is a name you will remember John Pickup. (“Brushman of the Bush” member) This is the first time in a decade you can see around 10 of his Latest paintings in a Sydney show. His works are scarcer than hen’s teeth and can only be described as incredible and exciting.

NEW ARTISTS FOR SHOW: As you know I am always on the search for new talent. Well I have found a wonderful wildlife artist, James Hough. Also Kym Hart is back with new and exciting work.

INVESTING IN ART: the share market continues its roller coaster ride and as a result people are increasingly including art in their investments. Financial advisors are looking for a good means of reducing risk by adding diversification to their client’s investment portfolio and art sales across the country are going extremely well.

KEVIN BEST NEW BOOK: Kevin Best is on the mend after having his hip replaced. It has been a hard road and a real trauma for him as at age of 75. He has been unable to paint since June and has only just started his first painting session of a couple of hours a day twice a week. Luckily he produced the paintings for my new book last year and they will be for sale at this show. Kevin best will be at the show signing the new book with his fellow artists. We all wish Kevin a speedy recovery.

DAVID BRAYSHAW our major new find the incredibly talented Artist David Brayshaw has been included in our new book and paintings from the book will be for sale. David is Australia’s top seascape artist whose depictions of ‘land meets sea’ and coral atolls is breathtaking. You’re sure to enjoy these! David’s work is featured in the new book.

JAMES HOUGH Is also included in the new book and has produced some of the greatest work I have ever seen. His recent trip along the ranges of the northeast coast of NSW really inspired him and he continues to produce magnificent works of art for the show. Many of the new images feature detailed landscapes with trees and limbs covered with moss and lichen in incredible detail with the wildlife depicted amongst waterfalls and rivers of the area. James work is featured in the new book.

JOHN VANDER: John has just returned from an epic painting journey through France England & Ireland and he rediscovered his love of Europe. He stayed in Provence and travelled the haunts of the great masters like Van Gogh and Cezanne. These wonderful experiences reinvigorated and inspired him to put paint to canvas and he has created a limited number of incredible paintings. Being a special ‘holiday series’ they are Great Investments? Don’t miss these!

IAN HANSEN. Continues to amaze the world with his very popular marine art and his new work the ‘Battle of Lissa’ is incredible and shows us why he is acknowledged as one of the greatest marine artists ever. This wonderful piece will be in the show and is a must for all to see and appreciate. What a great investment.

MAX MANNIX will be joining us with around 25 paintings again at this show and already people have been ‘booking in’ to meet this Australian Icon. Max’s paintings are lively, topical, and colourful and represent the Australian humour and way of life that we love. His reputation as one of Australia’s great investment artists is growing rapidly.

JOHN DYNON & WERNER FILIPICH have really created some of their best work and I can see the influence of Werner’s ‘trip of inspiration’ to Italy this year and John’s continuing unique depiction of our outback as only a ‘larger than life ‘ character could portray is taking Australian art to a new dimension. After Pro Hart’s death the critics predicted that “Dynon will be the new inspiration for Broken Hill and outback art” Check out his work! Their prediction is proven correct. Truly an inspirational artist.

CHERYL & I thank Ray Martin for his gift of time as he is an extremely busy journalist with Channel Nine. It is highly unlikely but national or international events may prevent him from coming at the last moment the alternative opener will be displayed on our web site. Cheryl the artists & I look forward to seeing you there. Kevin
