Kevin Bests new book, Secrets of the Brush, contains interesting stories, along with over seventy stunning images of his work that cover some of the most beautiful parts of Australia. The book has evolved as a labour of love as 75 year old Kevin celebrates the work of a lifetime in images, prose and poetry (by his daughter Mary-Anne) in this, his final book.
The book is also a treasure trove for aspiring artists as Kevin decided to include some of his best-kept secrets on ‘How to Paint’ and ‘Why to Paint’.
‘This book is about the paint under the brush,” says Kevin, who learnt his trade simply studying the Australian landscape for many hours in his youth- long before he ever dreamed of being an artist. It was not until the 1970’s when Kevin was in his forties that he seized the opportunity to embrace art to his full potential, and with no formal training grew to become one of the most popular ‘romantic impressionist’ artists in Australia today.
